The Slovak Republic located in central Europe.
Economy mainly based on machinery, chemicals, mining and tourism.
Formerly a Republic within CZECHOSLOVAKIA, which was proclaimed an independent
state in 1939, actually being a protectorate of GERMANY after it was occupied by it
in same year. Soviet influence collapsed in 1989 and Czechoslovakia once more
became free. The Slovaks and the Czechs CZECH REPUBLIC agreed to separate
peacefully on 1 January 1993.
Stamps were issued between 1939-1944, in Czechoslovak design.
Since 1993 reissuing stamps, annual output about 20.
