A Republic, located off western Russia bordering Poland to the west.
Belarus most prominent products are machine tools, tractors, trucks and textiles.
Following the fall down of the Russian Empire, White Russia (Belorussia) was
established in 1919, after the partition of the area between POLAND and Russia.
In 1922 merged with RUSSIA, UKRAINE and TRANSCAUCASIAN FEDERATION into the Union
of Soviet Socialist Republics (see RUSSIA, Soviet Union). The stamps issued
during this period are not recognized by most of the philatelists and stamps
catalogues. Belarus attained its independence in 1991 since then issued stamps.
