A Sultanate, located on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo. Crude oil
and rubber are exported.
A protectorate of GREAT BRITAIN (U.K.) since 1888. Under Japanese occupation between
1941-45 when reoccupied by the British army. It did not join into MALAYSIA in 1963, and
became independent in 1984 as a member of the British Commonwealth.
First stamps issued in 1895. Indirect UPU membership from January 1916, direct
since January 15th, 1985. Annual output about 15.
