An independent state in central South America. Economy is mainly based on
mining and agriculture, exporting tin, cotton, coffee and petroleum.
Bolivia was named after the famous South American liberator Simon Bolivar.
Since its independence in 1825, many revolutions occurred, weakening the country
and enabling its neighboring countries Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Paraguay,
to occupy parts of it. In 1946 six stamps were issued for the Department of BENI.
First stamps were issued in 1867. Direct UPU membership since April 1st, 1886.
