Area - 13,014 sq.km; Capital - Vilnius
Former territory in Lithuania, which was occupied by POLAND in 1919, during the
Russo-Polish war. In 1922 it was incorporated into Poland, but returned to
LITHUANIA (LIETUVA) in 1939. Stamps were issued between 1920-1922.
In 1923 the small zone of Warwiszki (between Lithuania and Poland) was occupied
by Polish rebels and three stamps were issued. Later on in same year incorporated
into Poland, today part of Lithuania.
