After the World War I ROMANIA gained control over the territories of Transylvania, Dobrudja, Bucovina, Bessarabia, TEMESVAR and eastern BANAT BACSKA. Until 1918 Transylvania belonged to HUNGARY (MAGYAR), in 1919 Hungarian stamps were overprinted 'REGATUL ROMANIEI' (Kingdom of Romania) and surcharged in Romanian currency.
