Area - 472 sq.km; Capital - Vathy
Formerly a principality under Turkish administration, one of the Aegean Islands,
between Greece and Turkey. A French post office operated in the capital (see
VATHY). During the first Balkan war in 1912, it was occupied by Greece and later
on became part of the territory known as NEW GREECE. Today an integral part of
GREECE (HELLAS). Stamp issuing between 1899-1915.
