A Kingdom located in northwestern Europe, between France and the Netherlands.
Highly developed country, its economy mainly based on exporting of machinery,
motor vehicles, chemicals, textiles and fabrics. The worlds largest diamond
trading center is located in Antwerp.
Since 1948 it is part of the Benelux union. Most of the Belgian territory was
occupied by German army during World War I, and entirely during World War II.
In 1920 the German territory of EUPEN AND MALMEDY was annexed to Belgium by
plebiscite. Belgium owned the colonies of BELGIAN CONGO and RUANDA URUNDI, which
became independent in the early 1960`s.
