A former Spanish Colony, island in the Gulf of Guinea off the west coast of
Africa. Formerly part of the Postal Region of SPANISH GUINEA, which included the
mainland RIO MUNI and the islands of ELOBEY, ANNOBON AND CORISCO.
In 1960 it became an Overseas Provinces of SPAIN (ESPANA) (including the island of Annobon)
and in 1968 the entire area became independent and was renamed EQUATORIAL GUINEA.
