A former Colony of SPAIN (ESPANA) in Western Africa on the Gulf of Guinea. It included the
mainland RIO MUNI and the islands of FERNANDO POO, ELOBEY, ANNOBON AND CORISCO.
In 1960 it was separated into two overseas provinces of Spain - Rio Muni
(including the islands Elobey and Corisco) and Fernando Poo (including the
island of Annobon). In 1968 the entire area became independent and was renamed
EQUATORIAL GUINEA. Stamp issuing between 1902-1959.
