The two former Kingdoms of NAPLES and SICILY, known also as the Two Sicilies,
comprising the southern half of the Italian peninsula and the island of Sicily,
were annexed to SARDINIA in 1860. Stamps were issued in 1861 and replaced by
those of Italy in 1862. Some stamps catalogs regard these stamps as being the
first issues of ITALY.
