A former British Colony, island in the West Indies, 11 km north of Venezuela.
It joined TOBAGO in 1889 to create the colony of Trinidad, which was renamed
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO in 1913. The first stamp issued in 1847 was a private issue
by an owner of the steam ship 'Lady McLeod', and was sold for 5 cents to carry
letters between two ports of the island (very scarce). Stamp issuing until 1910.
