A Dependency of NEW ZEALAND, one of the larger Cook Islands in the Pacific
ocean, northeast of New Zealand.
Internally administrated by COOK ISLANDS, while its foreign affairs are being
handled by NEW ZEALAND since 1901. Stamps issued from 1903 until 1932, when
stamps of Cook Islands were in use. Face value on the first stamps was
overprinted in the native language. In 1972 became an independent postal service
(remaining part of Cook Islands) and separate stamps issuing restarted. Annual
output about 10. |
