Formerly a feudatory state in western India between 1864-1949. Both names Soruth
and Saurashtra appeared on the stamps. In 1948 the United State of Saurashtra
was formed by 222 states, including the stamp-issuing states of JASDAN, MORVI,
NAWANAGAR, WADHWAN and Soruth (area - 82,582 sq.km; Capital - Rajkot). These two
states (Soruth-Saurashtra and Saurashtra) appear here under same title as they
are known to philatelists as 'Soruth'. First stamps issued in 1864 for Junagadh.
After 1950 stamps of INDIA were used.
